Entre l’ironie et l’emphase dans les "Mémoires d’outre-tombe" de Chateaubriand

| dc.description.abstract | Przedmiotem rozważań rozprawy doktorskiej jest funkcjonowanie ironii, emfazy i paradoksu w "Pamiętnikach zza grobu Chateaubrianda" oraz ich wzajemne relacje. Celem studium nie jest zaprezentowanie różnorodności form retorycznych; analiza figur retorycznych uwzględnia wyłącznie ich zdolność do współtworzenia ironicznego, emfatycznego lub paradoksalnego dyskursu. Kluczem do zrozumienia wzajemnych korelacji jest pojęcie ironii losu przejawiającej się jako nieustanny zwrot sytuacji i niemożność przewidzenia przebiegu wydarzeń. Zamiast panowania nad światem przedstawionym, narrator staje się ofiarą ironicznych zwrotów akcji nie będąc w stanie potwierdzić swego statusu najwyższej instancji nadawczej. Główne założenie rozprawy opiera się na określeniu ironii losu jako permanentnego wyzwania dla narratora, zmuszonego do odbudowania w oczach czytelnika swojej dominującej pozycji poprzez użycie technik perswazyjno-manipulacyjnych, jakie oferuje sztuka retoryki. Motorem retorycznej perswazji w dziele okazują się być emfaza i paradoks, które pomimo istotnych różnic formalnych krzyżują się celem odbudowania narratorskiego etosu. To funkcjonalne pokrewieństwo pomiędzy emfazą i paradoksem pozwala narratorowi wnieść powiew świeżości w strukturę narracji poprzez połączenie emfatycznego bogactwa treści i formy ze sztuką puenty charakteryzującą paradoks, przez co może skutecznie przeciwstawiać się ironicznej destabilizacji. | pl_PL |
| dc.description.abstract | The doctoral dissertation focuses on interaction effects between irony, emphasis and paradox where the concept of irony is crucial to understand persuasion’s stakes in the literary work of Chateaubriand. This dissertation doesn’t examine the devices used by the writer to denigrate his contemporaries such as antiphrastic irony or satire. Instead this paper presents the irony of fate because there is a strong feeling of a hostile, sudden and unexpected change of fortune in the work. The Memoirs signals clearly the presence of a structural irony which reduces the narrator to a defenceless and blind victim of inevitable and irreparable reversals. Thus, historical irony, tragic predestination, duality of human condition and the ironic demolition of all systems constructed by humanity confront the reader with doleful reflections on human existence. If the narrator’s intention is to ensure that such negative circumstances do not abuse his dominant position, he is forced to resort to rhetorical manipulation helping him to persaude the audience about his transcendence. In consequence, this analysis evoques a question of the complementary relations between emphasis and paradox. In spite of their vast stylistic differences the narrator is able to turn the emphasis and paradox in the Memoirs from Beyond the Grave to a serious literacy purpose, a didactic concern which helps him to rebuild his dominant position and to blunt the ironic representation. | pl_PL |
| dc.description.abstract | Loin de s’étendre sur l’hétérogénéité de formes rhétoriques dans les Mémoires d’outre-tombe, cette étude se limite à l’interaction entre l’ironie, l’emphase et le paradoxe. Il ne s’agit pas dans le présent travail d’examiner sa facette traditionnelle, liée au penchant de l’écrivain pour la satire et le dénigrement ironique de ses contemporains. Par contre, la sensibilité de l’écrivain face aux changements de son époque, le démantèlement de son univers identitaire, sa croyance en l’existence d’une volonté incompréhensible et insondable qui détermine le sort humain invitent à chercher les sources de l’ironie dans des changements d’ordre temporel et situationnel. Ainsi, la confrontation perpétuelle du narrateur chateaubrianesque aux renversements de la fortune, vouant à l’échec ses projets et ses aspirations, a permis de recourir à la notion de l’ironie du sort. Ses agissements dans l’œuvre non seulement condamnent l’instance narrative aux pertes les plus douloureuses, mais affaiblissent son statut d’autorité dominante, capable de guider son lecteur dans les méandres du récit. Ce conditionnement malveillant lance le défi persuasif que le narrateur entreprend par l’implantation dans le récit de deux régimes hétéroclites, vu leurs implications structurelles, mais consubstantiels du point de vue fonctionnel et idéologique. Ainsi s’instaure dans les Mêmoires la parenté persuasive stupéfiante entre l’emphase et le paradoxe, héritage rhétorique difficile à manier qui, cependant, par l’inventivité de l’écrivain, redonne de l’éclat et de la visibilité à la persuasion narrative en permettant d’affronter les coups assenés par les rires ironiques. | pl_PL |
