Nastolatka w polu literackim XXI wieku. Od powieści dla dziewcząt do literatury YA

Abstract

Dysertacja obejmuje ramy czasowe od 1989 do 2024 roku, co pozwala uchwycić ewolucję i rozpad powieści dla dziewcząt na tle przemian politycznych, społecznych i kulturowych w Polsce. Praca łączy perspektywę teoretyczną, literaturoznawczą i empiryczną, opiera się na metodologii Pierre’a Bourdieu i krytyce feministycznej. W części pierwszej omówione zostają ramy teoretyczne i metodologiczne, gdzie literatura dla dziewcząt zostaje przedstawiona jako praktyka kulturowa wpisana w relacje władzy i kapitału. Część druga skupia się na analizie wybranych powieści dla dziewcząt i literatury YA, ukazując je jako nośniki estetyk, konwencji i wartości – od narracji inicjacyjnych, przez romanse, po literaturę wattpadową i queerową. Trzecia część ma charakter empiryczny: opisuje obieg książek, rolę imprintów, BookToka i fandomów, a także praktyki czytelnicze, wzbogacając analizę o wywiady z twórczyniami i przedstawicielami branży wydawniczej. Dysertacja ukazuje powieść dla dziewcząt jako zjawisko na styku literatury, rynku i praktyk społecznych, w którym szczególnie istotne pozostają relacje władzy i pytanie o znaczenie słowa „dla”. Analiza pozwala zarysować miejsce gatunku i jego przemian we współczesnym polu literackim, wskazując zarówno na jego historyczne ograniczenia, jak i na nowe formy obecności w kulturze popularnej XXI wieku, ze szczególnym naciskiem na literaturę young adult, która dominuje w drugiej części pracy.

The dissertation covers the period from 1989 to 2024, enabling an examination of the evolution and decline of girls’ novel against the backdrop of political, social and cultural changes in Poland. The study combines theoretical, literary and empirical perspectives, drawing on the methodology of Pierre Bourdieu and feminist criticism. The first part discusses the theoretical and methodological framework, presenting girls’ novels as a cultural practice embedded within relations of power and capital. The second part focuses on an analysis of selected girls’ novels and YA literature, presenting them as vehicles for aesthetics, conventions and values – from coming-of-age narratives, through romances, to Wattpad and queer literature. The third part is empirical in nature: it describes the circulation of books, the role of imprints, BookTok and fandoms, as well as reading practices, enriching the analysis with interviews with authors and representatives of the publishing industry. The dissertation presents the girls’ novel as a phenomenon at the intersection of literature, the market and social practices, in which power relations and the question of the meaning of the word ‘for’ remain particularly significant. The analysis outlines the genre’s place and its transformations within the contemporary literary field, highlighting both its historical limitations and new forms of presence in 21st-century popular culture, with a particular focus on young adult literature, which dominates the second part of the work.
