Abstract
This article provides a broader picture of the archaeological heritage of the Cracow (Kraków)
Land that has been discovered through archaeological research as part of the project
‘Archaeological excavations conducted during the construction of the S-7 expressway,
section Moczydło–Szczepanowice–Widoma–Zastów–Cracow (sections B and D)’. This
research has been carried out since 2015 by a consortium consisting of: the University of Wro-
cław, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and the ‘Archeologia Silesiae’ Science
Foundation. This paper examines settlement processes at Mogiła 56, an important site for this
region previously investigated in the 1960s. The recent research conducted in the Land of Cra-
cow has yielded many traces of settlement represented by features and numerous artefacts in
complex contexts. This new evidence contributes to a better understanding of the relationship
between changes in the landscape and settlement processes in the prehistory of the Land of
Cracow.
