Stock exchanges all over the world mirror ongoing economic processes and influence the markets in particular countries. In the age of globalization, investors are increasingly seeking attractive profit opportunities on foreign stock exchanges, while companies are trying to obtain resources for new enterprises, selling their stocks even on other continents. As a result of these developments, legal translators, including those dealing with the language of the law of obligations, as well as securities, are faced with ever-increasing requirements. The paper concerns English-Polish, English-German, and English-Chinese translations of stock exchange and securities-related terminology in Poland, the United Kingdom, USA, Germany, and China. In the first part, the authors give a brief overview of the stock exchanges in the respective countries. Then they discuss the methods of translating stock exchange-related terminology and list the most common strategies of ensuring equivalence and difficulties that arise in translation. The authors have also prepared a glossary of selected English stock exchange terms with its Polish, German and Chinese equivalents.
