Item Glottodidaktik früher, heute und morgen(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2014) Ciepielewska-Kaczmarek, Luiza; Gorąca-Sawczyk, GabrielaThe global reality, or the constant changes in the joint language policies of European Union countries are only a few of the factors influencing the necessity for foreign language teachers to consistently upgrade their competences. The book “Glottodidaktik früher, heute und morgen” expands on the idea behind the project which in 2012 won the European Language Label award for innovative methodological solutions in teaching foreign languages. The volume contains eleven articles, whose topics revolve around four main themes: multilingualism, learning and teaching strategies/concepts for language lessons, and also conscious learning and student needs. The wealth of themes gathered in the articles indicates the variety of issues faced by modern language teaching and the ideas teachers of foreign languages can draw on in order to make their teaching more effective. The topics covered will form a source of inspiration for further research.Item Möglichkeiten und Grenzen interkulturellen Lernens im institutionalisierten DaF-Unterricht(Wydział Neofilologii UAM w Poznaniu, 2016) Ciepielewska-Kaczmarek, LuizaThe knowledge of a foreign language means discovering a new unknown culture in all its depth and variety. The key to a successful communication across borders is intercultural communicative competence which combines both linguistic and cultural aspects of general language competence. In Poland, in the year 2002 a major school reform was introduced. According to the new regulations, teaching a foreign language should aim at developing learner communicative competence in all its dimensions. As there are few coursebooks for teaching German as a foreign language available in Poland relying primarly on intercultural approach, it seemed necessary to investigate whether it was possible to achieve the goals of modern language policy using a coursebook promoting the communicative approach to teaching a foreign language. The present empirical study presents a profound analysis of cultural components found in the coursebook Themen neu and the quantitative-qualitative analysis of the research data collected among Polish secondary school teachers and learners, who worked with this coursebook. The final section contains the conclusions and suggestions concerning the type of cultural content needed in the coursebooks if they are intended to help learners in developing their intercultural communicative competence.Item Neue Ansätze in der DaF-Methodik und ihre Konsequenzen für die Lehrwerkgestaltung(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2010) Ciepielewska-Kaczmarek, LuizaThe following factors have contributed to arising new target groups in teaching foreign languages: the European Union’s claim concerning the multilingualism of its members, migrations, common mobility. As a consequence of this situation new handbooks for teaching and learning foreign languages have appeared on the market. Thus, the teacher is often confronted with the necessity of choosing the handbook, which is most adequate for the needs of a particular group of learners. The present article aims at defining the criteria of handbook selection in the light of the latest trends in foreign language teaching methodology.
