Item Mistranslations of Film Titles: Between Fidelity and Advertising(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Surdyk, Augustyn; Urban, AnnaIn the paper, the authors present and analyse examples of mistranslated film titles into the Polish language, selected from a database of over 1,100 titles and presented on the sample of the film genre comedy with all its subgenres. The authors discuss various film title translation strategies and procedures with reference to the literature on the subject. In the conclusions, the authors attempt to explain the reasons for the selection of certain translation procedures, with special focus on the free formulation of titles as the least transparent.Item Phraseologismen als Textualisierungsmittel(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2009) Urban, AnnaThe objective of the following article was to present the results of a study evaluating among others the function of idioms preceding and closing text blocks, as well as forming a text frame in feuilletons of the »Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung«. Funktionen von Phraseologismen in Feuilletons der »Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung«(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2009) Urban, AnnaThe book focuses on functions of modifi ed and nonmodifi ed idioms encountered in feuilletons of the national German newspaper »Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung«. The author discusses the fundamental issues of terminology and classifi cation of phraseological units, their ambiguity, the difference between modifi cation and variability, as well as systemizes the typology of idiomatic modifi cation with a number of subordinate aspects. Then the author assigns pragmatic functions perceptible in the dialogue between the author and the recipients as well as functions of text structuring. The book comprises an extensive collection of fi ve hundred idioms in their textual environment. This approach highlights the enormous potential of idioms under the activation of general knowledge as well as interpretative fi nesse. The author comprises the crucial features of feuilletons making the canonic variant of the genre model.
