Stopień degradacji środowiska naturalnego a rozwój fizyczny i stan zdrowia młodych mężczyzn w Polsce w latach osiemdziesiątych
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Welon, Zygmunt; Rogucka, Elżbieta
THE INFLUENCE OF THE LEVEL OF NATURAL ENVIRONMENT DEGRADATION UPON THE BIOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND THE STATE OF HEALTH OF YOUNG MEN IN POLAND IN THE 80'S was investigated on 27,300 Polish conscripts. No significant relationships between the body height and environmental pollution was found.

Wewnątrzrodzinne zróżnicowanie wzorów listewek skórnych w strefie podpalcowej stóp
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Buchwald, Wiesław
INTRAFAMILIAL VARIABILITY OF DERMAL RIDGE PATTERNS IN SUBDIGITAL AREAS OF FEET was investigated on a sample of 700 families from northern Poland. Interdependence was measured (x2, cp), and frequencies of homo- and heterolateral similarities were calculated. Moreover, differences between parents and children in patterns of particular subdigital areas were investigated.

Zróżnicowanie i dziedziczenie liczby listewek skórnych na kłębie i kłębiku dłoni
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Buchwald, Wiesław
DIFFERENTIATION AND INHERITANCE OF THE NUMBER OF DERMAL RIDGES ON THE THENAR AND HYPOTHENAR OF THE PALM were determined for 260 sets of parents and 290 children. The data obtained were statistically analysed.-The traits analysed did not show any bilateral or intersexual differences. The correlations between parents and children indicate genetic determination of the number of dermatoglyphs in both studied areas of the palm.

Zmiany wysokości i ciężaru ciała u bliźniąt po 18 roku życia
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Lubicka, Danuta
CHANGES IN HEIGHT AND BODY MASS AMONG TWINS OVER 18 were studied in the context of their size and rate of development in earlier phases of ontogenesis. Several environmental factors contributing to adult body height among the twins were assessed.

Zmiany sekularne wysokości ciała w przemysłowym regionie Polski
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Puch, Elżbieta Alicja; Jaworski, Jerzy Mirosław
SECULAR TREND OF THE BODY HEIGHT IN THE POLISH INDUSTRIAL REGION. Own data (1986) concerning the body height of 1413 children from the city of Katowice were compared with the mean values of the body height (1964,1974) from Polish anthropological literature.

An interesting variation in the fifth lumbar vertebra
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Chorn, David J.; Rule, Lucy-May
Variations in the lumbosacral region of the vertebral column are frequent and well documented [Hibbs, Swift 1929; Horwttz, Smith 1940; Nathan, Arensburgh 1972]. Ten percent of patients presenting with symptoms of low back-pain are found to have some segmental anomaly of the lumbosacral spine [McCulloch, Waddell 1980]. In the present report, an interesting variation of the fifth lumbar, vertebra (L5) is described and appraised with respect to its embryology and its possible functional significance.

THE FREQUENCY OF BIRTH AND MORPHOLOGY OF PREMATURE NEWBORN IN THE GDANSK DISTRICT. In the years 1977 to 1987 the number of premature babies bom in the Gdansk district decreased by 1.5% as well as the number of the newborns with weight less than 2,500 g.

Funkcjonalno-adaptacyjne uwarunkowania zmienności morfologicznej twarzy australopiteków
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Kaszycka, Katarzyna A.
MORPHOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES WITHIN AUSTRALOPITHECINE FACES AS A REFLECTION OF DISTINCT FUNCTIONAL ADAPTATIONS. The purpose of this paper is to discuss whether the differences in the faces of three australopithecine species (A africanus, A. robustus and A. boisei) are responses to different dietary adaptations.

Adaptacyjne aspekty hominizacji Część II. Przystosowania pokarmowe
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Kujawa, Betina
ADAPTATIVE ASPECTS OF HOMINIZATION. PART II. NUTRITIVE ADAPTATIONS. Both some geological, climatic and material traces that are used in paleonthology let reconstruct the complex of the adaptative traits that were developed in Australopithecines. The environmental conditions of South-Eastern Africa in late Pliocene and early Pleistocene directed some morphological, physiological and behavioural changes which the first hominids underwent.

Diet reconstruction of the Sarmatians at Madaras
(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Smrčka, Václav; Jambor, Jaroslav; Marcsik, A.
117 samples from the proximal femora were taken from 50 skeletons excavated from the Sarmatian cemetery at Madaras, situated on the southern part of the Hungarian Plain between the Danube and Tisza rivers. These skeletons date from the 3rd to the 5th century A.D. A trace element analysis was used in order to reconstruct their basic diet. The primary part of the Sarmatians' diet was vegetable as Sr, levels were high whereas the Zn levels were low. Low Pb concentrations in the. Sarmatians' bones, as compared to those of surrounding populations, testify to the low Pb of those surrounding populations, testify to the low Pb contamination in their diet.

(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1994) Florkowski, Andrzej; Kozłowski, Tomasz
EVALUATING THE SKELETAL AGE OF CHILDREN ON THE BASIS OF BONE SIZE. The study contains a description of the method of determining the age of children on the basis of long bones and other bones measurements. The authors provide illustrations of the growth curves for particular skeletal components.
