Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne. Seria Językoznawcza są czasopismem wydawanym od 1973 roku. Jego założycielami i pierwszymi redaktorami byli znakomici profesorowie Władysław Kuraszkiewicz i Tadeusz Witczak, a sekretarzami profesorowie Maria Adamczyk i Wojciech Ryszard Rzepka, wydawcą zaś Instytut Filologii Polskiej Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu. Początkowo, do tomu XX, pismo miało charakter ogólnopolonistyczny. W kolejnych numerach publikowane były artykuły zarówno z zakresu historii i teorii literatury, jak i językoznawstwa. Od XXI tomu, wydanego w 1994 roku, czasopismo rozdzielono na dwie serie: językoznawczą i literacką. W 2009 roku patronat nad „Poznańskimi Studiami Polonistycznymi. Serią Językoznawczą”, a w rok później także nad „Serią Literacką” objęło Poznańskie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauk, korporacja działająca od 1857 roku. Zmiana wydawcy czasopisma pociągnęła za sobą zmianę jego szaty graficznej, ale przede wszystkim zmianę modelu czasopisma, które stało się pismem o zasięgu nie tylko ogólnopolskim, ale też międzynarodowym, zarówno przez skład Rady Naukowej, skupiającej uczonych polonistów i slawistów z różnych ośrodków akademickich Polski, Europy oraz Azji, jak i przez dobór autorów artykułów. W czasopiśmie publikowane są artykuły i recenzje autorów polskich i zagranicznych, wpisujące się w obszar językoznawstwa współczesnego i historycznego. Pismo zawiera też dział „Językoznawstwo na świecie”, które, w przekonaniu Kolegium Redakcyjnego, będzie przynosiło informacje o aktualnych badaniach naukowych poza Polską, tworząc tym samym płaszczyznę do naukowych konfrontacji. W 2011 roku Kolegium Redakcyjne podjęło decyzję o rozszerzeniu formuły czasopisma – o odejściu od stricte polonistycznego charakteru i otwarciu się na problematykę lingwistyczną z zakresu wszystkich języków słowiańskich. Utrzymanie w tytule określeń „poznańskie” i „polonistyczne” ma obecnie jedynie sygnalizować, iż pismo powstało w środowisku poznańskich polonistów i jest kontynuacją „Studiów Polonistycznych”, w żadnym razie nie oznacza już jego środowiskowego charakteru. Od tomu 18 (38), wydanego w roku 2011, czasopismo jest półrocznikiem. Obecnie Kolegium Redakcyjne tworzą: Alicja Pihan-Kijasowa, Irena Sarnowska-Giefing, Małgorzata Witaszek-Samborska, Tomasz Lisowski i Agnieszka Krygier-Łączkowska.

(ang.) Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne. Linguistic Series Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne has been published since 1973. The Journal’s founding fathers and its first editors were brilliant and prominent professors: Władysław Kuraszkiewicz and Tadeusz Witczak, and its executive secretaries included Prof. Maria Adamczyk and Prof. Wojciech Ryszard Rzepka. At the time, the Journal was published by the Institute of the Polish Language at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Initially, the profile of the Journal was more general (back issues from Vol. 1 through Vol. 20), but was subsequently broadened to accommodate articles dealing with both the history and theory of literature and those that covered various areas in linguistics. From Vol. 21, published in 1994, on, the Journal has been divided into two distinct series: linguistic series and literary series. In 2009, Poznańskie Studia Polonistyczne. Linguistic Series, and one year later the Literary Series came into the patronage of the Poznań Society of Friends of Arts and Sciences, Poznań-based learned society established in 1857. The change of publisher of the Journal was followed by a change in its layout, artwork and typography, but first of all, by a change in the scope of the Journal whose readership has since become worldwide. This was effected not only by the composition of the Advisory Board that included prominent specialists in Polish and Slavic studies from different academic centers in Poland, Europe and Asia, but also by the careful selection of authors of submitted articles. The Journal publishes articles and reviews, written by Polish and foreign authors, that cover research areas in modern and historical linguistics. A new section entitled “Linguistics research worldwide” has been added to the Journal, which, as the members of the Board of Editors believe, will provide the reader with information on current research work and projects carried out beyond Poland, thus creating a platform for the scholarly dispute on relevant subjects. In 2011, the Editorial Board of PSP made a decision to broaden the thematic scope of the Journal and re-formulated its format to include, apart from the Polish-oriented content of the Journal, subject themes related to particular issues relevant to all Slavic languages. The fact that the elements of the title: “Poznań” and “Polish Studies” have been retained, serves to indicate only that the Journal originated within and with editorial direction provided by a recognized Poznań-based academic institution and that it is a continuation of “Studia Polonistyczne”, but by no means that it is limited to a representation of scholarship in Polish studies in its local character only. From Vol. 18 (38), published in 2011, on, the Journal is a bi-annual publication. The current composition of the Editorial Board includes: Alicja Pihan-Kijasowa, Irena Sarnowska-Giefing, Małgorzata Witaszek-Samborska, Tomasz Lisowski and Agnieszka Krygier-Łączkowska.
