The essayism of Zygmunt Kubiak in the polish and european context
Abstract
W r. I Eseisto – kim jesteś?, czyli o praktyce, teorii i kontekstach eseju literackiego prezentuję Kubiaka jako klasycznego eseistę, subiektywną postawą nawiązującego wprost do Montaigne’a; świadomie odwołującego się raczej do nieśmiertelnego światopoglądu eseistycznego, niż do postmodernistycznej gry intelektu. R. II Krytyk nieco staroświecki przynosi m.in. analizę szkiców Kubiaka w kontekście adaptacji pomysłów Du Bosa i Bremonda – ich „teoria sympatii” i „krytyka identyfikacji” stosowana jest bowiem do odczytywania dzieł Kochanowskiego, Mickiewicza i Sienkiewicza. R. III Mitolog, filolog, kreator. Wprowadzenie mitologicznego pisarstwa Kubiaka w szeroki kontekst interpretacyjny, tak innych mitologii, jak i rozmaitych orientacji mitograficznych, pokazuje odrębność zajmowanego przezeń stanowiska i swoiście religijne ujęcie tematu.R. IV Tradycja śródziemnomorska w kraju nad Wisłą. Rudymentarne przeciwstawienie tradycji i historii, wzbogacone o rozważania nad „polskim esejem” i Eliotowskim pojęciem klasycyzmu, a nade wszystko próba określenia charakteru wersji tradycji śródziemnomorskiej w oparciu o proponowane przez Kubiaka wartości, stanowią osnowę tego rozdziału.R. V Nie było, a jest. Jednym z wniosków jest, że apokryfy Kubiaka stanowią finalne spełnienie zarówno zdominowanych przez „prezentację pośrednią” esejów, jak i empatycznej, wieńczącej się re-kreacją arcydzieł, krytyki literackiej.
In first chapter Essayist – who are you?, practice, theory and contexts of a literary essay, I present Kubiak as a classical essayist with his subjective approach directly related to Montaigne. I show my protagonist as being more closely involved with undying essayistic outlook, than with postmodern, formal game of intellect. A critic slightly on the old fashioned side. I analyze the works of Du Bos and Bremond, where I discover indications of their “theory of sympathy” and “criticism of identification” applied by Kubiak in reference to the works of Kochanowski, Mickiewicz and Sienkiewicz.Mythologist, Philologist, Creator. What is a myth and how should it be understood? – various interpretative context, as well as a variety of presented theories is not so much supposed to lead to a decisive conclusion, but to show a special place of Kubiak, for whom a myth has primarily a religious aspect.The Mediterranean tradition in the country at the Vistula River is based on a juxtaposition of history with tradition. The context of the “Polish essay” (with a dispute over Eliotean and modern classicism) is used to a larger extent than it has been in the previous chapters. Analyzed in this chapter are certain virtues present in Kubiak's essays, which give evidence to coherence of his version of Mediterranean tradition. Out of nowhere. On Zygmunt Kubiak's apocrypha is a complement of problems presented earlier. It is my suggestion that Kubiak's apocrypha can be perceived as a reflection of highly artistic literary criticism, where both a sublime act of re-creation of masterpieces, as well as identifying with their authors, take place.
