The sociolect of dog lovers. A lexical and pragmalinguistic study
Abstract
Celem rozprawy jest prezentacja i analiza jednego ze środowiskowych odmian języka - socjolektu miłośników psów. W pracy podejmuję próbę udowodnienia tezy, że środowisko to, komunikując się, posługuje się charakterystycznymi środkami językowymi, tworząc socjolekt. Przedmiotem mojego zainteresowania uczyniłam słownictwo i frazeologię miłośników psów. Na zasób leksykalny będący tematem dysertacji złożyły się jednostki leksykalne związane ze specyfiką życia osób posiadających psy lub pasjonujących się nimi (kwestie tresury, zdrowia, pielęgnacji, behawioryzmu psów itd. – a więc także trenerów, profesjonalnych wystawców, behawiorystów), traktujących czworonogi w sposób wyjątkowy. Zbadane zostało słownictwo wyróżniające się na tle polszczyzny ogólnej. W rozprawie omówiłam mechanizmy kształtowania słownictwa miłośników psów, przeanalizowałam sposoby wzbogacania tej leksyki oraz wysnułam wnioski dotyczące tego, czy wśród owych mechanizmów można wskazać prawidłowości co do roli konkretnych środków językowych pomnażających owo słownictwo. Odrębną częścią dysertacji jest słownik środowiska miłośników psów.
The aim of the dissertation is to present and analyze one of the environmental varieties of language - the sociolect of dog lovers. In this work, I try to prove the thesis that this environment communicates using characteristic linguistic means, creating a sociolect. I made the vocabulary and phraseology of dog lovers the subject of my interest. The lexical resource being the subject of the dissertation consisted of lexical units related to the specificity of life of people who have dogs or are passionate about them (issues of training, health, care, behaviorism, etc. - and therefore also trainers, professional exhibitors, behaviorists), treating quadrupeds in a unique way . The vocabulary distinguished from the general Polish language was examined. In the dissertation, I discussed the mechanisms of shaping the vocabulary of dog lovers, analyzed the ways of enriching this lexis and made conclusions regarding whether among these mechanisms it is possible to indicate regularities as to the role of specific linguistic means multiplying this vocabulary. A dictionary of dog lovers is a separate part of the dissertation.
