Tożsamość i ciało. Proza nurtu chłopskiego 1962-1984 wobec politycznych i kulturowych przemian w powojennej Polsce

Abstract

Przedmiotem dysertacji jest analiza mechanizmów konstruowania tożsamości kulturowej w prozie nurtu chłopskiego lat 1962–1984 w odniesieniu do kategorii cielesności. Centralną kategorią moich rozważań jest ciało, stanowiące w analizowanych tekstach podstawowe narzędzie rozpoznawania swojego miejsca i przystosowywania swojego „ja” do zmienionej rzeczywistości. Rozprawa składa się z sześciu rozdziałów. W pierwszym przedstawiam tło historycznoliterackie i omawiam zaplecze instytucjonalne i ideologiczne prozy nurtu chłopskiego, a także charakteryzuję główne tendencje przedstawionych w niej przemian tożsamościowych. W drugim przechodzę do omówienia ram metodologicznych pracy: przywołuję główne koncepcje pozwalające roboczo uchwycić problematykę ciała w literaturze i zarysowuję projekt badania związków tożsamości i cielesności w prozie nurtu chłopskiego. W kolejnych rozdziałach, analitycznych, poddaję analizie elementy składowe opowieści o cielesności i awansie klasowym. Analizy pozwolą pokazać, że chłopskie ciała przedstawione w tych tekstach to również ciała „przemieszczone”, wielowymiarowo zaangażowane w proces społecznej zmiany; pozostające przede wszystkim w relacji z innymi, próbujące odnaleźć się w nowej, socjalistycznej wspólnocie, a niekiedy wręcz stawiające opór homogenizującym dyskursom o „klasie” i „narodzie”, poszukujące swojej genealogii poza narracją o narodzinach socjalistycznie zdefiniowanego „nowego człowieka”, wreszcie – wskazujące możliwości i granice kulturowej asymilacji.

The subject of the dissertation is an analysis of the mechanisms of cultural identity construction in the prose of the peasant trend of 1962-1984 in relation to the category of corporeality. The central category of my considerations is the body, which in the analyzed texts is the basic tool for recognizing one's place and adapting one's “self” to the changed reality. The dissertation consists of six chapters. In the first, I present the historical and literary background and discuss the institutional and ideological background of the prose of the peasant trend, as well as characterize the main tendencies of the identity transformations presented in it. In the second, I move on to discuss the methodological framework of the work: I recall the main concepts that allow a working grasp of the issue of the body in literature, and outline a project for studying the relationship of identity and corporeality in the prose of the peasant current. In the following, analytical chapters, I analyze the constituent elements of stories about corporeality and class advancement. The analyses will help to show that the peasant bodies depicted in these texts are also “dislocated” bodies, multidimensionally involved in the process of social change; remaining primarily in relationship with others, trying to find their way in the new socialist community, and sometimes even resisting homogenizing discourses about “class” and “nation,” searching for their genealogy outside the narrative of the birth of the socialist-defined “new man,” and finally - pointing out the possibilities and limits of cultural assimilation.
