The Red Army and its soliders in Wielkopolska in 1945-1946
Abstract
The subject of my doctoral dissertation considers the presence of the Soviet military within the territory of Poznań Voivodship in 1945-6. In terms of the object of my research, ‘Wielkopolska’ which is used in the title is just anheuristic shortcut. However, the term itself has not yet been sufficiently defined in the historiography. Therefore, the arbitrary determination of this research had to be built on a coherent synthesis. And in the same way, the considered here time span is justified. The beginning was set along with the winter offensive of the Red Army from the Vistula river on 12 Jan. 1945. The closing moment had been chosen with the establishment of the Deputy of the Council of Ministers, on 12 Dec. 1946, by the Northern Group of the Soviet Army in Poland. In the period between these two important events the key phenomenon may be presented, which were important for recognizing the problematics included in the title of this work.
