Tożsamość i płeć kulturowa. O kobiecej postaci literackiej w greckiej oraz polskiej literaturze romantycznej

Abstract

Rozprawa bada na tle porównawczym grecką i polską literaturę romantyczną. Przedmiotem rozważań jest literacka postać kobieca w świetle zagadnień genderowych oraz tożsamościowych. Analiza uwzględnia głównie dzieła poetyckie, stanowiące kanon literatury romantycznej w Grecji oraz w Polsce. Na podstawie dominującej ówcześnie patriarchalnej ideologii, płci przypisane zostały określone kulturowo cechy i role. Romantyczne utwory męskiego autorstwa stanowiły miejsce ich reprodukowania i rozpowszechnienia. Przewodnia myśl rozprawy polega na tym, iż kobiece postacie występujące w utworach męskiego autorstwa, uobecniają sposoby, według których męski podmiot literacki (Tożsamy), pojmuje kobiecy przedmiot literacki (Innego) i ustala jego tożsamość. Jako narzędzie analizy wprowadzony jest hybrydyczny termin „heterookreślenie”, który jako antonim samookreślenia, ma oznaczać określenie jednostki – czyli osoby lub grupy – ze strony Innego oraz, w szerszym rozumieniu, przyjęcie przez jednostkę takiego określenia. Kształtuje się zatem centralna kwestia dotycząca tożsamości, przypisanych postaciom kobiecym w badanych tekstach literackich, oraz stosunku pomiędzy tymi tożsamościami, czyli o harmonijnym współistnieniu tożsamości, przy czym rozpatrywane są przypadki konfliktu tożsamościowego. W rozprawie zostają poddane analizie trzy tożsamości, które uobecniają się w literackich przedstawieniach kobiecości: tożsamość genderowa, tożsamość klasy społecznej oraz tożsamość narodowa.

The thesis examines Greek and Polish romantic literature on a comparative basis. Subject of analysis is the female figure, seen from the identity and gender perspective. For the purposes of the study I consider works of poetry, which compose the romantic canon in Greece and Poland. The dominant in 19th century patriarchal ideology had inscribed concrete cultural roles and attributes to each sex. Male writings of Romanticism became the place of reproduction and popularization of such schemes. The central idea of the thesis is that the female figures present in male works reveal the ways, in which the male literary subject (the Self) conceives the female literary subject (the Other) and determines its identity. As a useful analysis instrument I introduce the term ‘heterookreślenie’ (definition by the Other) which, by being opposite to self-definition, means the definition of a unit – person or group – by the Other, and in a wider sense, the acceptance of such definition by the unit. The core of the thesis deals with identities, which are inscribed to the female figures in the examined literary texts, as well as the relation between these identities. In other words I examin the problem of harmonic co-existence of these identities through cases of identity conflict. The thesis studies three identities, which appear in the literary images of femininity: gender, class and national identity.
