Secondary public education in Great Poland in 1945-1961
Abstract
Dysertacja odtwarza działalność prywatnych szkół średnich w Wielkopolsce w latach 1945-1961. Do tej grupy szkół możemy zaliczyć gimnazja i licea należące do zakonów, samorządów i stowarzyszeń. Niepubliczne szkoły średnie w Wielkopolsce odgrywały znaczącą rolę w odbudowie sieci szkolnictwa ponadpodstawowego po zakończeniu II wojny światowej. Władze państwowe i oświatowe nie były w stanie zapewnić społeczeństwu kształcenia na poziomie średnim, dlatego dopuszczono inicjatywę prywatną na tym etapie kształcenia. Ogromne zaangażowanie lokalnych społeczności pozwoliło na uruchomienie prywatnych szkół średnich. Pomimo braków kadrowych i budżetowych szkoły prywatne wykonywały z sukcesami swoje statutowe zadania. Ten dynamiczny rozwój przerwała „ofensywa ideologiczna” w oświacie. Stopniowo eliminowano szkoły niepubliczne z sieci szkół średnich poprzez likwidację lub upaństwowienie. Budziło to spontaniczny opór uczniów i nauczycieli. Opozycyjna działalność na terenie szkół przyjmowała też formy zorganizowane. Bogata sieć szkół prywatnych w latach sześćdziesiątych została zredukowana do jednego Liceum - Sióstr Sacre Coeur w Polskiej Wsi. Pomimo krótkiego okresu działania szkoły niepubliczne odegrały znacząca rolę w kształceniu młodzieży po 1945 r. Praca przybliża i uzupełnia dzieje oświaty wielkopolskiej o aspekt dotychczas mało znany i pomijany w literaturze przedmiotu.
The dissertation reconstructs educational work of public secondary schools in Great Poland in 1945-1961. In this group of schools there are junior high schools and secondary schools which belong to orders, self-governments and associations. Public schools in Great Poland mattered a lot in the process of postwar reconstruction of the net of secondary educational system. Government and educational authorities were not able to guarantee society higher education and therefore it was allowed to start public education at this stage. The great commitment of local society let to open public secondary schools. Despite personnel and budget deficiencies, public schools accomplished their statute work successfully. This dynamic development was interrupted by “ideological offensive” in education. Public schools were gradually eliminated from the net of secondary schools by liquidation or nationalization. It aroused a spontaneous resistance of students and teachers. Opposition activity in these schools also had an organized form. Plenteous net of public schools in the sixties was reduced to one school – The Sacre Coeur Nuns Secondary School in Polska Wieś. Despite the short time of activity, public schools featured in the young people education after 1945. This dissertation approaches and supplements history of education in Great Poland with little known and ignored aspect in literature.
