Damian Kokoć – RELIGIOUS FUNDAMENTALISM AND INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOG IN THE WORKS OF BASSAM TIBI, JOHN HICK AND MICHEL ONFRAY The issues of religious fundamentalism and its influence on the practice of interreligious dialo-gue are among the most fundamental problems discussed by contemporary political scientists, soci-ologists, and students of religion. These issues are especially important in multicultural societies. Fundamentalism is defined here, following Bassam Tibi, as a totalitarian political ideology that should not be confused with religious revival. Each of the three thinkers proposes different ways of counteracting fundamentalism. Tibi points out that the best way is to start a dialogue and in-terpret religion as an ethics based on the love of God. John Hick, on the other hand, calls for a ‘Co-pernican revolution’ in the approach to religion. This implies a need for the creation of a pluralistic paradigm according to which all religions are equally true. Finally, Onfray claims that all three monotheistic religions strive by their nature for theocracy, and because of that we should reduce their influence on social life and start to build a post-Christian secularism.pl_PL
