„The Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Bulgakov in Poland in the years of 1969-1989
Abstract
W rozprawie zostały omówione warunki i sposoby funkcjonowania Mistrza i Małgorzaty w obiegu czytelniczym w Polsce w l. 1969-1989, specyfika recepcji powieści we wskazanym okresie oraz wartość dzieła dla kultury polskiej. Przyjęta startegia badawcza opiera się na interdyscyplinarności.
Rozdział pierwszy stanowi przegląd wybranych teorii i koncepcji, w których istotną rolę odgrywają rozważania nad problematyką recepcji. W drugim omówione zostały warunki społeczno-polityczne, w jakich przebiegał odbiór Mistrza i Małgorzaty. Rozważania ogólne na temat wpływu ideologii na ówczesną rzeczywistość przechodzą w ustalenia bardziej szczegółowe, wyznaczane przez najważniejsze wydarzenia o charakterze politycznym. Rozdział trzeci podejmuje kwestię oddziaływania rzeczywistości na kształt dyskursu prasowego. Pokazana została struktura dyskursu oraz sytuacja komunikacyjna. Rozdział czwarty porusza zagadnienie obecności Mistrza i Małgorzaty w środkach masowego przekazu, ukazując wpływ systemu medialnego na proces recepcji dzieła. Rozpatrzone zostały takie kwestie, jak zależność pojawiających się treści od częstotliwości ukazywania się, profilu, zasięgu i uwarunkowań komunikacyjnych prasy, powiązane także z rodzajami i gatunkami dziennikarskimi. Ostatnia część pracy pokazuje rolę, jaką odegrał Mistrz i Małgorzata w kulturze – sztukach scenicznych, plastycznych, filmie oraz poezji.
The dissertation discuses the conditions and the ways of functioning of The Master and Margarita in a reading cycle in Poland between 1969-1989, determines the specificity of the novel’s reception and indicates the value of the book for the Polish culture. The adopted strategy of research is interdisciplinarity. The first chapter provides an overview of selected theories and concepts, which play an important role in the issue of reception. The second discusses the socio-economic conditions in which The Master and Margarita existed. General reflections on the impact of ideology on the reality transform into more detailed findings, determined by the most important political events. In chapter III there has been analyzed the impact of reality on the press discourse. There are to be shown the structure of this discourse and the situation of communication. Chapter IV touches upon the matter of the novel’s presence in the media and the influence of the media system to the process of reading the book. There are such issues considered as the dependence emerging content of the frequency of publication, profile, extent and conditions of communication associated with the types and genres of the press materials. The last chapter of the work demonstrates the role The Master and Margarita played in the culture – performing arts, visual arts, film and poetry.
