Kuratorowanie antropocenu - między nauką o Ziemi a krytyką kulturową. Studium przypadku Anthropocene Curriculum

Abstract

Celem niniejszej rozprawy doktorskiej jest krytyczne zestawienie i zanalizowanie dw6ch typ6w praktyk i narracji powiązanych z pojęciem antropocenu: naukowych, skupionych gł6wnie wok6ł nauk o Ziemi i badawczo-artystycznych, wyłaniających się wokół tego procesu, powstających w odniesieniu do berlińskiej inicjatywy kulturowej Anthropocene Curriculum (AC). Zgodnie z główną tezą rozprawy, omawiany proces, realizowany na styku ekspertyzy geologicznej i projektu kulturowego, można traktować jako laboratorium dla nowych, interdyscyplinarnych i transdyscyplinarnych badań wobec doświadczanych współcześnie ekologicznych kryzys6w. Odnotowując się do dyskurs6w krytycznych, powstających wokół koncepcji geologicznego antropocenu, proces ten problematyzuje metodologie nauk o Ziemi, zwracając uwagę na ich punkty dyskusyjne, widoczne przede wszystkim w sposobie uniwersalistycznego definiowania człowieka. Obrany przeze mnie kierunek metodologiczny łączy badania empiryczne (wywiady pogłębione i obserwacje uczestniczące), analizę krytyczną literatury dotyczącej geologii i stratygraficznych badan nad antropocenem, historii nauk o Ziemi, dyskursów krytycznych związanych z humanistyką środowiskową, studiami feministycznymi, postkolonialnymi, dekolonialnymi i rdzennymi, a także pogłębioną analizę i interpretację praktyk badawczo-artystycznych, które były częścią AC.

The aim of this dissertation is to critically compare and analyse two forms of practices and narratives related to the concept of the Anthropocene: scientific accounts, grounded primarily in the Earth sciences, and artistic and research-based practices that have emerged in connection with the Berlin cultural initiative Anthropocene Curriculum (AC). This dissertation argues that the intersection of geological expertise and cultural practice in the AC constitutes a laboratory for new interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary strategies to address current ecological crises. Drawing on critical discourses surrounding the geological Anthropocene, the dissertation problematises the methodological assumptions of the Earth sciences, in particular their universalist definition of humanity. Methodologically, the dissertation combines empirical research-including in-depth interviews and participant observation-with critical analysis of geological and stratigraphic literature on the Anthropocene, the history of the Earth sciences; and scholarship in the environmental humanities, feminist, postcolonial, decolonial, and Indigenous studies. It also offers close analysis and interpretation of artistic and research practices developed within the AC.
