The drama of human existence and the presence of the Absolute in the historic reality. History of thought of Lev Karsavin
Abstract
Niniejsza rozprawa doktorska jest pracą z zakresu historii intelektualnej, poświęconej myśli rosyjskiego historyka i filozofa – Lwa Karsawina. Problem badawczy zawiązał się wokół zagadnienia dramatu ludzkiej egzystencji i został ukazany w kilku kontekstach: biograficznym, filozoficznym, teologicznym, historycznym, historiozoficznym i politologicznym. Do jego opisu i analizy wykorzystano ideę wszechjedności i trójjedności. Obydwie ukazują Boski porządek w świecie. Są zasadami, które decydują o strukturze i charakterze bytu, a także o dynamice zmian. Pierwszą z nich Karsawin określa jako hierarchiczną wspólnotę osób indywidualnych i symfonicznych, źródło życia i poznania. Druga stanowi model rozwoju, oparty schemacie: jedność-rozdzielenie-zjednoczenie. To ostatnie wymaga miłosnej ofiary i śmierci.
Praca składa się z pięciu rozdziałów. Pierwszy przedstawia wpływ, jaki na poglądy myśliciela miały jego życiowe doświadczenia, w tym losy Rosji. Centralne zagadnienia metafizyki znalazły się w rozdziale drugim. Interpretacja przebiega tutaj wzdłuż podziału: Absolut-stworzenie. W oparciu o dogmaty Kościoła prawosławnego i tradycję filozoficzną Karsawin tłumaczy relację pomiędzy Bogiem i człowiekiem oraz jej egzystencjalne konsekwencje. Pojawia się motyw wolności, zła, cierpienia, czasu, wieczności oraz problem miłości i śmierci jako dążność do integracji i realizacji ideału. Kolejne rozdziały dopełniają filozoficzny wątek o aspekt praktyczny. To rekonstrukcja Karsawinowskiej myśli o Kościele, o znaczeniu nauki historycznej i historiozofii, o polityczno-społecznym życiu narodu.
This PhD dissertation is devoted to intellectual history, and in particular to the thought of the Russian historian and philosopher - Lev Karsavin. The research problem is focused on the issue of drama of human existence and was depicted in a few contexts: biographical, philosophical, theological, historical, historiosophical and political. The idea of All-unity and Tri-unity was applied to describe and analyse the said problem. Both of them describe the divine order in the world. They are principles which determine the structure and character of the existence as well as the dynamics of changes. The former is defined by Lev Karsavin as a hierarchical community of individual and symphonic persons, a source of life and cognition. The latter forms the development model based on the pattern: unity-separation-unification. Unification requires love, sacrifice and death. The dissertation consists of five chapters. The first one depicts the influence of the philosopher's life experiences, including the situation in Russia, on his views. The central issues of metaphysics are to be found in Chapter Two. The interpretation here reflects the following division: the Absolute - the creation. On the basis of the dogmas of the Orthodox Church and philosophical tradition Lev Karsavin explains the relation between the God and the human and its existential consequences. The following themes appear: freedom, evil, suffering, time, eternity and the problem of love and death as aspiration for integration and achievement of the ideal. The subsequent chapters supplement the philosophical thread with the practical aspects. This is reconstruction of Karsavin's thought about the Church, the significance of historical sciences and philosophy of history, about the political and social life of the nation.
