| dc.description.abstract | Praca doktorska pt. Wizja kultury w prozie Józefa Wittlina stanowi kontynuację polskich badań kulturoznawczych przeprowadzonych na początku lat dwutysięcznych przez zespół naukowców z Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Dla kulturoznawcy „kultura”, ogół ludzkiej działalności w świecie, stanowi przede wszystkim wynik realizowania przez człowieka wartości. Tak rozumiana rzeczywistość kulturowa – ślady ludzkiej aktywności w świecie i ukryte za tą aktywnością wartości – stanowi właściwy przedmiot twórczości wielu polskich pisarzy XX wieku, w tym również twórczości autora arcydzielnej Soli ziemi – Józefa Wittlina (1896-1976). Chociaż spojrzenie pisarza na kulturę było nieuchronnie europo- i polonocentryczne, cechuje je równocześnie pewien rozmach (w ogóle zresztą właściwy tego typu refleksji). Dla Wittlina najciekawszy był sens etyczny kultury: jej oddziaływanie na powstawanie i umacnianie międzyludzkich więzi. Takie oddziaływanie przypisywał wielu wytworom i przejawom ludzkiej działalności, zarówno materialnym, jak i niematerialnym (zagospodarowaniu przestrzeni, obyczajom, językowi, ideom filozoficznym i religijnym), a w sposób szczególny – dziełom sztuki, w tym zwłaszcza dziełom sztuki literackiej. W ten sposób ważnym pojęciem stało się dla niego pojęcie ogólnoludzkiego braterstwa. Kulturę traktował zatem jako wyraz i środek do realizacji tej przede wszystkim wartości. | pl_PL |
| dc.description.abstract | The PhD thesis The concept of culture in the prose of Joseph Wittlin is a continuation of the Polish cultural studies conducted in the early 2000s by a team of researchers from the University of Warsaw. In cultural studies, human activity in the world is seen mostly as the implementation of individual values. Thus, in the most general sense, the subject matter of the twentieth century Polish prose – including the prose of Józef Wittlin (1896-1976), the author of a masterpiece of fiction: Salt of the Earth – is cultural reality (i.e. traces of human activity in the world and the values hidden behind such activities). Although inevitably focused on Europe and Poland, the writer’s perception of culture was characterized by a considerably wide scope of interest (as usual in this type of reflection). To Wittlin, of most interest was the ethical aspect of culture: its impact on the formation and strengthening of interpersonal relationships. He attributed that effect to many forms and manifestations of human activity, both material and immaterial (the use of space, customs, language, philosophical and religious ideas), and especially, works of art, notably those of literary art. In this way, the concept of human brotherhood became the focal point in Wittlin’s prose, where culture is seen mainly as the expression of this universal bond, and at the same time a means to achieving this. | pl_PL |
