"Album Orbis" of Cyprian Norwid as a book of an art master
Abstract
Rozprawa „Album Orbis” Cypriana Norwida jako księga sztukmistrza poświęcona jest dziełu, w którym skupiają się najważniejsze kwestie związane z twórczością i refleksją estetyczną Norwida. Pierwsza część rozprawy odsłania album jako zaskakujący koncept historiozoficzny, będący propozycją antysystemowego ujęcia rozwoju historii, która zapętla się i powtarza. Zamiast wykładu historiozoficznego Norwid pozostawił album „w szkicu”, co pozwoliło mu przekształcić historię dziejów w historię form, organizujących przez wieki kształt cywilizacji świata. Najbardziej adekwatnym sposobem zapisu okazało się wklejanie, dopisywanie i montowanie zbioru motywów. Sposób interpretacji polegający na stopniowym przybliżaniu się do dzieła okazał się najbardziej stosowną metodą opisu hybrydycznej struktury Album Orbis, który miał być jednocześnie „portfelem artystycznym”, „zbiorem motywów”, jak i dziełem „w szkicu”. Dlatego druga część rozprawy poświęcona jest jego kolażowej kompozycji jako zamierzonej konstrukcji autorskiej, odsłaniającej pomysł na dzieje cywilizacji świata, układające się w opowieść o widzeniu artysty, gromadzącego pozostałości zarówno wielkich, jak i tych nieznaczących znaków kultury.
Thesis "Album Orbis" of Cyprian Norwid as a book of an art master is dedicated to a masterpiece that focuses on the most important matters related to Norwid's writings and aesthetic ideas. The first part of the thesis shows the album as a suprising concept of philosophy of history, which is a proposition of antisystemic suming up of progress of the history, that loops and repeats itself. Instead of lecture of philosophy of history, Norwid left the album ”in sketch” that let him transform the history of acts into the history of forms, organizing the shape of the world civilization throught the ages. The most adequate way of transcription was pasting, adding and installing set of motives. The way of interpretation based on gradual approach to the piece of art was the most satisfactory method of description of hybridic structure of ”Album Orbis” that was meant to be "artistic portfolio", "set of motives" and at the same time oeuvre "in sketch". That is why the second part of the thesis is devoted to his collage composition as an intended author's construction, unveiling the idea of history of world civilization, ordering into a story about perception of the artist, that collected significant as well as insignificant remains of symbols of culture.
