Abstract
Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie zjawiska pieśni fado w kontekście przemian kulturowych, jakie mają miejsce we współczesnej Europie. W pracy podjęto próbę weryfikacji problemu tożsamości narodowej i kulturowej Portugalczyków. Poszukiwano także odpowiedzi na temat nastawienia Portugalczyków do etno-kulturowej auto-identyfikacji w fado. Problem badawczy znajduje się w obszarze etnolingwistyki, stąd zdecydowano o zastosowaniu trzech różnych technik badawczych korzystających z jakościowej metodologii badań. Był to wywiad swobodny, ankieta oraz analiza dyskursu. Zgodnie z wynikami badań Portugalczycy są świadomi relacji łączących fado z ich tożsamością narodową i kulturową. Badanie ankietowe oraz wywiady swobodne umożliwiły nam zbudowanie definicji fado. Wyniki pokazują też, że według Portugalczyków fado jest tak silnie związane z ich własnym narodem, historią i miejscami w Portugalii, że uniemożliwia to obcokajowcom zrozumienie przesłania fado (mimo iż niektórzy słuchacze twierdzą, że “czują” fado, nawet nie rozumiejąc tekstu). Badania wykazały, iż Portugalczycy traktują fado jako nośnik ich tożsamości czy nawet ”portugalskiej duszy” i że jest to ich manifestacja w obliczu globalizacji kulturowej we współczesnej Europie.
The goal of this dissertation is to research the phenomenon of fado songs in the context of cultural transformations that take place in the contemporary Europe. In the thesis we tried to verify the problem of national and cultural identity of the Portuguese. We also searched for the answer to the question of their attitude towards the ethno-cultural auto-identification in fado. The research problem is covered by the ethnolinguistics, therefore we decided to conduct the research using three different techniques of qualitative methodology: an interview, a questionaire and the discourse analysis. According to the research results the Portuguese are profoundly conscious of the relation between fado and their national and cultural identity. The questionaire and interviews results allowed us compose the fado definition. They also show that the Portuguese consider the songs so strongly tied to their own nation, history and places in Portugal, that this makes impossible for the foreigners to understand the message of fado (even though some listeners claim, that they “feel” fado, though not being able to understand the lyrics). The research results proved that the Portuguese confirm that fado is a carrier of their identity, or even “Portuguese soul” and that is definitely their manifastation against cultural globalisation in contemporary Europe.
O objetivo da presente tese é investigar o fenómeno do fado no contexto das mudanças culturais que aconteçam na Europa contemporânea. Na presente tese tentámos verificar o problema da identidade nacional e cultural dos Portugueses. Investigámos também a attitude dos Portugueses face auto-identificação etno-cultural no fado. O problema da investigação está na area da etnolinguística, por isso decidímos conduzir a investigação utilisando três métodos qualitativas diferentes: a entrevista, o inquérito e a análise do discurso. De acordo com os resultados de investigação os Portugueses estão conscientes da relação entre o fado e a sua identidade nacional e cultural. Os resultados dos inquéritos e das entrevistas permitiram nós construirmos a definição do fado. Os resultados revelam também que os Portugueses consideram o fado como relacionado tão fortamente com a própria nação, história e lugares portugueses que, isso impossibilita os estrangeiros percebam a mensagem do fado (mesmo que alguns dos ouvintes alegem que “sentem” o fado não percebendo a letra). A investigação provou que os Portugueses tratam o fado como o transmissor da identidade deles ou até a “alma portuguesa” e que é definitivamente a manifestação deles contra globalização cultural na Europa contemporânea.
