The sociotherapist’s competencies in pedagogical work
Abstract
Tematem artykułu są kompetencje zawodowe pedagoga w obszarze socjoterapii, rozumiane tu jako charakterystyka człowieka i jego podmiotowe właściwości związane z wykonywaniem pracy zawodowej. Kompetencje powinny stanowić połączenie typu osobowości, określonej postawy oraz wiedzy i umiejętności potrzebnych do wykonywanych zadań. Artykuł ukazuje istotę socjoterapii oraz charakterystykę socjoterapeuty jako terapeuty i wychowawcy pracującego wśród młodych ludzi mających trudności z przestrzeganiem zasad i reguł społecznych. Powinien on posiadać właściwości: świadomość siebie, uporządkowanie, ciekawość, odwaga, odpowiedzialność, a także empatia i konsekwencja. Istotne są umiejętności diagnostyczne i komunikacyjne, związane z prowadzeniem grup. Pożądana jest postawa zaangażowania, z dystansem wobec trudności tych, wśród których pracuje. Opisany wizerunek pedagoga stanowi podstawę do konstruowania modelu kompetencji socjoterapeuty. Może stać się wzorem, do którego winny dążyć osoby pracujące w obszarze pomocy na rzecz dziecka i jego rodziny.
This paper describes professional competencies of a sociotherapist. The competencies are meant here as sociotherapist’s characteristics and his subjective attributes related to the work he does. The competencies should therefore consist of a conjunction of a given type of personality with the adequate attitude, knowledge and skills necessary to do this type of work. The paper presents the essence of a sociotherapy and a characteristic of a sociotherapist. The sociotherapist is a therapist and a tutor working with young people having difficulties in obeying rules and regulations established by a society. He should demonstrate the following characteristics: consciousness of himself, self-organization, curiosity, courage, responsibility, empathy, and determination. It is essential for the sociotherapist to have diagnostic and communication skills towards group leading. There is also desirable for him to demonstrate involvement in work and, at the same time, the distance to difficulties occurring in the work-ing environment. The sociotherapist’s image described in the paper constitutes the foundation for creating the sociotherapist’s competency model. The model is hoped to become an exam-ple to follow by social workers helping children and their families.
