Patterns of errors in the Swedish of Polish learners: Evidence from written Swedish
(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 1992) Malecza, Elżbieta
The author analyses the most typical errors in the Swedish of Polish learners. The analysis has been restricted to accounting for patterns which can be explained by negative interlingual interference. The errors have been divided into two groups: structural and lexico-semantic and supplied with numerous examples drawn from compositions and written exercises of various types of Polish learners. Errors in patterns of communicative competence are also dealt with. The analysis has been carried out in a traditional way and the emphasis has been put on its practical value.

Tautonyme Personenbezeichnungen auf -ist im Dänischen und -ist(a) bzw. -yst(a) im Polnischen
(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 1992) Rajnik, Eugeniusz
The paper deals with the word-formation analysis of Danish personal nouns in -ist and their formal counterparts in -ist/a/ and yst/a/ in Polish. The analysis is based on Bzd;ga’s binary model. * The Danish suffix -ist is usually tacked on to nouns though some deadjectival derivatives can also be found. Some personal nouns with the above suffixes have parallel forms with the same meaning. Some Danish personal nouns in -ist have no Polish equivalents though there exist relevant bases in Polish. Numerous Polish derivatives in -ist/a / and -yst/a/ are rendered by compounds in Danish.

Word-Formation Description and Morphological Status of Intensifiers in Norwegian
(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 1992) Skommer, Grzegorz
The author analyses the morphological status of some Norwegian prefixes and first-words of compounds which convey the semantic feature of intensification: The status is hard to establish due to the incessant process of transition of independent words into affixes. After discussing the complex nature of word-formation analysis the author puts forward a hypothesis that the primary concern of word-formation studies should be meaning.

Ett bidrag till teorin om det svenska perfektums utveckling
(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 1992) Sadalska, Genowefa
An attempt is made to account for the development of the Swedish perfect tense. The analysis is based on Kuiylowicz’s theory on the origin of temporal categories. The Swedish perfect tense is derived from periphrastic present constructions which denote present states resulting from past events. The constructions tend to develop the temporal meaning of Past (Praeteritality while gradually reducing that of Present (Presentavity). This development is caused by the processes of delexicalization and grammaticalization. The Swedish perfect tense, however, has not yet reached the stage of pure Praeteritality though in certain contexts it can already be determined by temporal adverbs primarily referring to the Past.

Sweden and the question of Poland’s independence (1914–1918)
(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 1992) Piotrowski, Bernard
The author claims that the question of Poland’s independence was of great political interest to the Swedes of World War I, especially to Swedish activists who collaborated with Germany. The Polish question was seen in the wider context of aspiration of the Baltic “oppressed peoples”. A number of eminent Swedes openiy demanded that the right to independent state existence be granted to Poland. The author also discusses the role of various organizations (e.g. the League of Peoples Oppressed by Russia and Information Office “Polonia”) active in Stockholm at that time.
