Between anthropological research and social activism: optimizing local communities with migrants. On the example of Poznań
Abstract
Na cykl składa się siedem tekstów: publikowane artykuły, opracowania o charakterze raportów, rozdział w publikacji zbiorowej oraz manuskrypt. We wszystkich tekstach opieram się na własnych doświadczeniach jako badaczki (badania indywidualne i zespołowe) oraz praktyczki – współzałożycielki i członkini organizacji pozarządowej stale współpracującej z samorządem, zdobytych w ramach anthropology at home, gdzie terenem jest Poznań i jego okolice. Prowadzone przeze mnie rozważania dotyczą optymalizacji funkcjonowania wspólnoty lokalnej; optymalizacji uwzględniającej fakt, że w jej skład wchodzą także cudzoziemscy mieszkańcy. Przedmiotową tematykę zgłębiałam z jednej strony poprzez badania potrzeb migrantów, z drugiej zaś badania percepcji migracji i migrantów przez przedstawicieli samorządu. Dodatkowo aktywność badawczą uzupełniałam działalnością praktyczną wśród migrantów i przedstawicieli samorządu, która bazowała bezpośrednio na wnioskach płynących z badań. Wszystkie aspekty mojej antropologicznej aktywności znajdują odzwierciedlenie w prezentowanych tekstach tworzących zwartą tematycznie i powiązaną ze sobą całość. Poszczególne elementy cyklu dopełniają się tematycznie i w rezultacie składają się na całościowy obraz zjawiska wskazanego jako temat rozprawy.
The series consists of seven texts: published articles, studies in the type of reports, a chapter in a collective publication and a manuscript. In all the texts I base on my own experience as a researcher (individual and team research) and a practitioner - co-founder and member of an NGO constantly cooperating with the local government. All my experiences were gained within the framework of anthropology at home, where the field is Poznań and its surroundings. The deliberations I have been conducting are about optimizing the functioning of the local community; an optimization that takes into account the fact that it also includes foreign residents. I explored the topic through research into the needs of migrants on the one hand, and research into the perception of migration and migrants by local government representatives on the other. In addition, I supplemented my research activity with field engagements among migrants and local government representatives, which were based directly on the findings of the research. All aspects of my anthropological activity are reflected in the presented texts that form a thematically compact and interrelated unit. The individual pieces of the series complement each other thematically and, as a result, make up a comprehensive picture of the phenomenon indicated as the subject of the dissertation.
