Taxonomic usefulness of the morphological characteristics of juvenile stages of the subfamily Crotoniinae Thorell, 1876 (Acari, Oribatida, Camisiidae)
Abstract
The paper presents the taxonomic descriptions of ontogenetic stages of 16 species of moss mites from the subfamily Crotoniinae. Nine new species appeared for knowledge. Descriptions of morphology were supplemented by detailed drawings and scanning photos. Groups of species of the genus Crotonia were characterized and their occurrence on the world map were presented. Moreover, phylogenetic analysis of species of the subfamily Crotoniinae based on morphological ontogenetic stages were carried out. Keys to determine the species of this group on the basis of morphological characteristics of the different juvenile stages were prepared.
