Fundacja dla humanistyki, 2016) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe system of education in the Third Reich represented a specific way of combining ideological indoctrination with a certain set of national myths. It was based on a racial discourse and anti-Semitism, as well it persuaded an imperative of total domination over non-German groups of people. This paper deals with the distinctive features of the mentioned educational system in order to deliver a better understanding of functioning of education within a totalitarian regime. Education is her not just simply a selected area of authoritarian politics but an important tool in the mechanism of maintaining control over people’s minds through changing their worldview.Item Building Global Communities Through Universal Bilingual Education(Pixel, 2023) Drozdowicz, JaremaThis paper explores the process resulting in building global communities through the idea of universal bilingual education. In order to do so the paper presents basic theoretical concepts of global communities that are useful today, ie. community of trade, community of law, and community of autonomous communities. Those three concepts are being used to reflect the key aspects of the process in the context of bilingual education and its central role to the effort of building global bridges across local determinants of national schooling systems and the school practice. Thus the case study of the Polish educational initiative International Social Education Programme Bilingual Future serves the purpose of showing how it could be done with the clear goal of gaining real linguistic competence along with social, communicative, and intercultural skills.Item Chasing Tinderella: love and affection in the age of the mobile device industry(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2017) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe extensive use of mobile phones is today a constant part of our daily routines. This social habit had afected also the spehere of emotion, sexuality and the ways people show affection or discontent towards the others. This paper aims at the main characteristics of the relatively new phenomenon of online dating and dating applications in the cintext of the mobile industry’s rise in contemporary economies. The process of a growing number of devices and applications sold worldwide cannot be disregarded in a sociological sense as it clearly affects other areas of public and private lives of individuals. The issue of online security is here also brought into attention. The main thesis of this paper is however based on the notion of the mobile industry as a main factor in changing the technological side of social relations in the todays reality, but on the other hand a certain historical evidence is being highlighted that shows a continuity on a more personal level of the way people deal with love in general.Item Decydujący moment w świecie Instagramu. Współczesna fotografia uliczna i wirtualne tożsamości(Wydawnictwo Akademii Pedagogiki Specjalnej, 2016) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe huge popularity of new media platforms and social media is a phenomenon specific for the transitions of contemporary culture. The growing interest in these kinds of communication is visible also in the area of visual culture, especially in the context of photography. This paper makes an attempt of a critical inquiry in the dependency between the mentioned platforms, including Instagram for example, and the transformation of current patterns of media descriptions of reality. A significant part of that discussion is the field of the so called street photography. This sort of documentary photography had gained paradoxically thanks to Instagram a new dimension of articulation and is one of the most popular forms of expressing one’s way of perceiving every day life. This and other phenomena of modern media delivers further evidence for the thesis that is stating a creative and dynamic character of transformation of global culture.Item Karl R. Popper i Ludwig Wittgenstein jako nauczyciele. Dwie biografie, dwie koncepcje filozofii edukacji(2021) Drozdowicz, JaremaThis article explores lesser known facts about two most prominent twentieth-century philosophers: Karl R. Popper and Ludwig Wittgenstein. It reconstructs their practices as school teachers and puts them in the context of the models of philosophy of education described by them in some of their works. Their teaching experiences, however, diff ered in many respects, and these diff erences might serve the purpose of presenting how their conceptual work was put by them into practice and how it worked out for them. It also brings the historical context of the school reform introduced in Austria in the 1920s and shows how this very reform aff ected their concepts of education and how they introduced them in the schools in which they worked.Item Migrujące podmioty. Relacje, konteksty i przyszłość problemu zróżnicowania kulturowego w edukacji(2020) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe issue of migration is now becoming part of a wider debate on cultural diversity. This article explores selected aspects of this debate in the context of school education. A relatively new subdiscipline, the anthropology of education, is indicated as a useful perspective in this matter. Anthropological research on migration and cultural differences in general can be regarded here as a scientific reconstruction of the processes that lead to the construction of otherness. The cultural figure of a migrant in particular serves as an example of these processes in the context of European education. Western concepts of otherness thus build large part of the current political and social debates on migration and the presence of migrants in the educational milieu. The article examines these concepts in relation to the main contemporary migration trends visible in the West.Item Neopoganizm a przemiany religijności młodzieży amerykańskiej(2021) Drozdowicz, JaremaThis paper deals with the issue of the rise of neopagan movements and the changes occuring in the religiosity and spirituality of North American youth, It also tackles the problem of change in relation to the attitudes towards religion in general among adolescents in the United States and other parts of the world. The main objective is here to bring out the most significant aspects of this change and to contextualize the contemporary rise of neopaganism in terms of social and cultural factors. This article explores selected aspects and phenomena related to creativity, innovation and labor in the age of digital technologies and the domination of algorithms. The key problem in this case is the digitalization of labor, a phenomenon which also affects the creative processes and innovation. The notion of creativity shifts today towards a specific model of labor, based on and conditioned by the use of digital tools and often managed by machines, i.e. algorithms. Algorithmic labor is considered here as a social and cultural problem. The text investigates selected effects of these tendencies and highlights the important emerging issues, like the culture of incompetence for example. Preppers are people who's life credo is to be prepared for every potential disaster, accident or even a total collapse of civilization. The latter might be regarded as the most important element of the prepper's world view, which includes the visions of Apocalypse in its core structure. This paper deals with the problem of the prepper world view and social praxis in the American context, as well with the phenomena of EDC (Every Day Carry) enthusiasts and all kinds of survivalists. Kopimizm jako nowy wymiar religijności internetowej(2022) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe article explores the phenomenon of kopimism as a new form of cyber religiosity linked to the processes of transformation of contemporary religious beliefs. The kopimist movement is being analyzed through the phenomenological perspective in relation to the unfolding context of the impact modern technology has today in many fields of social life. The paper delivers not only a detailed analysis of kopimism itself but also gives insight into selected aspects of the entanglement of religion and the internet today. In effect, we may gain also an interesting picture of how modern religiosity is being articulated and constructed through the use of media and technological tools and how technology is being sacralized blurring the traditional understanding of religion itself.Item Religijność globalnej młodzieży – nowe trajektorie i konteksty tożsamości(2024) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe text aims to reconstruct and reveal key results in the religious mechanisms of young people. However, the global dimension presented here allows us to discuss the problem in a wide range of generational and identity definitions defined today in many examples of specific particularism characteristic not only of the young generation, but also of many other social groups. The research problem arising from the discussion of aspects of identity is the disciplinary application to obtain specific data regarding, for example, the nature of Western secularization. The thesis of global secularization appears in the light coming not only from Western countries, but also from many other emerging regions of the world, that it is strongly overestimated. Thus, one can gain access to the system and possibly increased spiritual realms in a technological society. used for anthropological analysis, which is new global religiosity takes on and is more culturally complex than answers to existential questions.Item Ruch QAnon i nowy prawicowy fundamentalizm(2021) Drozdowicz, JaremaThis paper focuses on the phenomenon of QAnon – a newly shaped social, political and quasi religious movement that emerged in recent years as one of the most profound examples of the new right wing radicalism in the United States. The mentioned movement has a significant impact on how contemporary American religiosity and religious driven politics are being transformed and how this transformation affect the public discourse. The paper highlights the most importnat aspects of QAnon and puts them in a larger context of the conservative turn not just in the US politics but also globally. Thus the paper’s thesis is based on the assumption that movements like QAnon fill a gap which was neglected for a long time by liberal politics and as a religious phenomenon they influence from the bottom up the political, social and religious mainstream.Item Teaching Analog Skills in a Digital World(2022) Drozdowicz, JaremaThis paper explores the issue of the socio-cultural transformations implicating a change in the learning and teaching processes due to the extensive digitization of human environments. The purpose of the research is to deliver a contextualized insight into the effects of the digitalization of learning and other parts of the public sphere. This issue is being investigated through such notions as nostalgia, retromania, and retro learning with the methods of discourse analysis and elements of ethnography of organizations. It is thus important to point out the most important cultural tendencies in the dynamics of this change by bringing out the significance of non-digital learning patterns. The research’s outcome highlights these patterns which build so-called analog cultures, i.e. specific forms of identity construction in the digital setting which emphasizes the importance of the relations between man and machine in the context of skills acquisition for example. Remarks on Contemporary Cafe Racer Culture(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe contemporary phenomenon of the cafe racer culture raises today many questions on the culturally defined identities and the nature of modern subcultures. This paper examines those issues by highlighting both, the most significant elements of the cafe racer subculture and by conceptualizing the cultural reality surrounding these groups of motorized people. As the place of the motorcycle in popular culture links this machine with masculinity a further inquiry is being made her in the construction of the male rider image.Item Wyobraźnia pedagogiczna. Źródła interdyscyplinarne i zarys koncepcji(2021) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe paper explores the concept of pedagogical imagination in relation to three major sources of theoretical influence – ethnography, sociology and history. It makes the attempt to combine them and investigate how the notion of imagination might be used in pedagogy and the study of education in general. It raises the issue of subjectivity and puts it in the context of emergence of new forms of qualitative analysis in contemporary pedagogy. This new form of scientific inquiry and new analytical questions that arise along are related to the problem of experience. The paper also makes an attempt to highlight the significance of experience in gaining a deeper insight into the ways people shape their own educational experiences. When speaking of experience in the educational space, especially within the school reality, we might point out the subjectified forms of participation in those areas of public life. The stressed out in the text and combining mentioned types of imagination forms of living the participation in what is usually objectified and institutionalized field of education, upbringing, schooling systems and various educational policies implemented in schools requires nevertheless a critical approach towards the effects of functioning of those domains in the social praxis, a step which is typical for the aforementioned disciplines. To paraphrase Bruno Latour, today we need to reformulate what is social in the categories typical to the emic analysis natural to ethnography rather than to sciences which use tools promising maximum objective insight into reality.
